How to close Tesco current account

I have 2 Tesco current a/cs with zero balances and wish to close them but the phone number doesn't give an option for closing a current account. I've phoned 3 times, thinking I'd not heard the option but there is none.Tesco will not accept a letter and you cant do it on online banking. So can anyone tell me how to close the accounts?

Log on to your current account that you want to keep i.e. not the Tesco one and choose the switch option and enter the Tesco details and it will switch the Tesco account into your current account and close the Tesco account in about 7 working days1

I've always found Tesco bank staff to be very helpful over the phone. If there is no obvious option for closing your account, that probably leaves you with the hold until you can speak to an operator option, or deliberately going through to the wrong number and asking them to redirect your call.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

There's no facility om my HSBC current account to transfer a Tesco account to it. I've phoned Tesco yet again and stayed on hold after exhausting all options but it just hoes dead. Any more ideas anyone ? This is ridiculous!

Just switch it into the HSBC account, under banking and switch?1

If you can't don't want to close/switch online then you can find the address for customer services easily enough online and send it by mail, that is the way i have always closed my accounts easiest way for me.0

Apparently you cant close a Tesco account in writing. And in order to switch the accounts to HSBC I have to phon HSBC or call in at my branch. That's what it says on my online HSBC account. I'm giving up. Tesco are phasing out current accounts . No accepting any new applications. I was only trying to tidy things up so not wasting any more time. But thanks for your replies x

Tesco bank are annoying as there isn't a phone number to speak to anyone about current accounts.
Last time I needed to speak to someone, I ended up phoning credit cards then they transfered me manually0 -

None of the options allow you to speak to an actual person. Its only for stuff like automated balance check. So my point still standseskbanker said:
