Where can I put a tumble dryer

I rent a flat and we are looking to get a tumble dryer and have no room in the kitchen and have a balcony door in the hallway by the front door where other people have put there’s. We have no spare room. Was just looking for advice on where I could put a tumble dryer. We do have a shed on our balcony but don’t really want to put it in there. TIA.

Do you have any internal cupboards where you could put a condenser drier?

If it is a condenser dryer you can put it anywhere there is a power point. If it is not a condenser dryer you need a window to put the ventilator tube through.  Condenser dryers are a bit more expensive but worth it as they can basically go anywhere

Might sound silly/dumb but I didn’t think that they could go onto carpet. So would I need to have it on a hard floor or not.

It's not a good idea to put a washing machine on a carpeted floor because this could well allow the appliance to vibrate a fair bit on the spin cycle but this isn't a consideration for a tumble drier as the speed of rotation is far lower.
Probably the only problem you could get with a drier on a carpet is if it's a condenser drier and the water tank is allowed to overflow (if there's not a cut out switch fitted to this) then you would end up with a sodden carpet underneath the unit.

Just make sure that if there are any air vents near the bottom of the drier, these are kept clear of any obstructions.

You would need to put a piece of wood or plastic sheet underneath it.
  • Thank you all for the advice I will look into all this.

Make sure it has a good condenser rating(less moisture in the expelled air),
Consider a heatpump lower chance of a fire.
  • Ours is in the bathroom but only plugged in when no one is using the shower obviously
