Compensation for late delivery

I ordered a bed on eBay on a Wednesday and paid extra for next day delivery. I needed it ASAP as my old one had become soiled and I literally had nothing to sleep on. Seller “produced a shipping label” but never actually posted the item until Thursday meaning it didn’t come until Friday - a day late. As a result I had to sleep on the floor literally. They have refunded the shipping costs but am I entitled anything for the late delivery here compensation action wise?

No, tbh you're lucky to have the full delivery cost back. Technically it was next day delivery as the sent it Thursday and it arrived Friday.1

The compensation culture is alive and well in UK - and we used to laugh at the Americans!7

You might get a small token goodwill gesture if you ask very, very nicely, depending on the retailer - but unlikely. In terms of compensation, no you're not entitled to anything. They've refunded the premium delivery charge, so that's probably as far as you'll get.0

But there’s a post on here from Martin about getting back compensation if you’ve had to take a day off work etc0

So you’re saying he could have waited until Christmas to post it, if it arrived the day after I’d be “lucky” to get the money back?Spank said:No, tbh you're lucky to have the full delivery cost back. Technically it was next day delivery as the sent it Thursday and it arrived Friday.0 -
I doubt you're entitled to any compensation. Just one of those things I'm afraid. Next day delivery is all good but it is rarely guaranteed. Any number of things could happen to a delivery on the way to you.lynxptc said:I ordered a bed on eBay on a Wednesday and paid extra for next day delivery. Sleeping on the floor or sofa for a night is not ideal but it's not the end of the world.
How much "compensation" for a bad night's kip do you think would be fair?0 -
Did you? Did you have to take both Thursday and Friday off work, Thursday for the expected delivery and then Friday for actual delivery? You haven't said.lynxptc said:But there’s a post on here from Martin about getting back compensation if you’ve had to take a day off work etc:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

OP were you promised it would arrive on Thursday? Did you contact the seller to enquire when it would be sent out? What time of day does the seller's courier arrive to collect items?
All your own fault, I would have given you your premium postage back and blocked you.

Yes I was promised it would arrive on Thursday. I paid for next day delivery and it clearly stated on the listing “orders before 2pm will be sent the same day”.The_Rainmaker said:OP were you promised it would arrive on Thursday? I don’t know what I have done wrong and why you would block me?0 -
What loss have you suffered?
