Why?

I filed for bankruptcy on the 24/04/2014 and have since worked really hard to turn my life around not just financially but academically and career wise also. I went back to uni and i am aiming for a place in chambers, but i am currently working freelance as a heritage and listed building planning consultant. And will be returning in September for an M.Sc and LL.dip.

After a little tussle with the CRA's my credit file is now in pristine form, no missed or late payments for over 6 years, with borrowings on there, all paid on time. I purposely got a credit card a few years ago to attempt to improve my credit score, i have recently transferred this over to another card for the same reason. Anyhow, whilst it means little my Experian score is 987.

Im trying to procure a new(er) car and i thought rather than go down the PCP route i would borrow the money in the form of a loan. My dad did this recently and borrowed 5k at 1.6% despite a poorer (than mine) credit file/report. Apparently i have 0/10 chance of borrowing any money from anyone/anywhere, why?

Am i possibly recorded as full time student somewhere? Which technically i am, but still earn a decent salary.

If you only have the one credit card it will be a lack of credit history, especially if the loan is unsecured.

If you go for PCP or a specific “car loan” then it’s tied to a physical asset, therefore they’re easier to get than a loan that’s unsecured.

I have around £14.99 on the original card for some reason and just over £1000.00 on the new card due to a large recent internet purchase - ill pay this off in two or three bits. Other than that i have a sim only phone contract and a broadband contract with sky.

Could be the small amounts of credit.
What are the limits you have?

The £14.99 card has a £2700.00 limit and the card with 1k on it has a limit of £2500.00.
