OP - don't 'send it back' (not the original!).
Report them to the DVLA (complaint email is in post#5 of the NEWBIES thread).

Thanks for the replies everyone, definite food for thought, very busy schedule until Monday then i’ll have lots of free time to put a response together based on peoples suggestions here
