Mistaken identity

Options
Just arrived home to a PCN, with photo evidence of the offence, however the offending vehicle has a near identical reg to mine, theirs starts YK12, mine is YK14 (rest is identical), so you can see the issue, i’m not worried. Also i drive a Fiesta and the offender is a van, 200+ miles away. So i’ll send it back with a smug note and that will be that

However I would like to cause them some financial hurt along the way if i can, is there a case for a GDPR offence by them do you think? Looking up and sending unsolicited mail to me, demanding money and causing me great distress, because of a mistake and lack of due diligence on their part?

Tenuous i know, but good to get a second opinion

Wait to see what they come back with first. Your assumption that "that will be that" may be a little naïve. PPCs are not known for their intelligence or doing the right thing. Wouldn't be surprised if they still said you owe them. If/when they refuse to go away, that'll be when you can really start claiming distress.

Who issued the pakring ticket ( name of parking company)
if its a private parking company, some seem to have more ANPR miss reads than others.
Also who's car park was this - that is the location of the car park??
I'm of the opinion that landowners need to be made aware - and held accountable for the actions of their agents.
The only exception to going fully for a landowner would be a small independent business , or a community facility ( ie village hall Scout/guide hut etc) although with the community halls etc run by committee it doesn't take much to scare them especially if you remind them of their responsibility's as trustees

Please send a letter before action for breach of GDPR.  If they do not respond, no problem, write again in 2 weeks time saying if they do not respond you will commence legal proceedings.
If again they do not respond, serve a summons via moneyclaimonline.  If you need help with this dm me as I do not often log on as heavily involved in a £250 million scam (watch the film The Laundromat - which was my idea but was beaten to it - although a simplified British version would be better).
Include the regulars in any dms to show I am legit.  I promise I do not want to make a penny out of your situation and only want the scammers brought to justice.

This must be a joke (in very bad taste).  Be kind to the scammers?

National Parking Enforcement LTD, they have IPC and IAS logos on their letter as well as their own. Location is outside of a primary school, parked for 7 minutes, and the photo shows a FedEx van parked on double yellows on what looks like a public road rather than a car park, although it could be an access road for the school, after looking up the postcode in maps it’s inconclusive
