Gumtree Paypal Buyer Scam

I get these all the time. They just say whatever to get you to contact them via email. As soon as I get one I delete it. Not worth the time.
As for PayPal F&F, I do use it as and when I can. That, or bank transfer. I’ve sold at item for £1100 via FaceBook Markletplace before and the buyer paid via F&F and all went through fine. What I do do though, is no matter how trusting the buyer may be of me, I insist in at least a phone call so we can have a chat and all questions can be answered - to reassure the buyer if anything else.
Some buyers prefer standard PayPal, which is fine. I just add on the fee’s to the purchase price and proceed as normal.
Have even had a buyer come to purchase a £1600 item just recently. He wanted to pay completely via standard PayPal, but as he was collecting I had no proof of delivery etc. Hence we decided he would provide me 50% PayPal (which he wanted to do for his own protection) and 50% bank transfer. He also left me his details, his work details, and I took an image of his passport too. Again, all fine.
In this day and age scams are rife. You just need to be very careful with everything you do.0
