Car been in garage 15 weeks!!
Hi. I bought a Ford Focus (08) plate in feb. I took it back for a few things, but mainly it overheated going up hill.
In March he kept it to get a part. He has had it ever since!! When ever I’ve rang he states ford have been closed due to Covid, then he can’t get the parts. Said it needs a ‘module’
I’m a nurse and although I’ve managed to get to work it’s been nothing but a hassle.

Are parts really taking this long?
I feel that there is something more going on with the car. Meanwhile I’m paying insurance tax breakdown cover etc!!
Any advice?

Yes, it's entirely possible that some not-off-the-shelf parts for a 12yo car that's been out of production for 9yrs could be on back order from Ford UK from Ford Germany from the component manufacturer.1

Are you being charged for this work, or is the dealer doing it under warranty?0

i presume under warranty. He hasn’t been very clear. It’s been over heating since day one. He tried a few things, and not charged me.0

TBH, I don't know why he hasn't simply given you your money back.1

I wish he would then at least I won’t have to borrow my sons car to get to work!! I could look for something else0

Have you asked about a refund?0

The magic words are "refund under CRA 2015".
If it showed the issue within 30 days of purchase, it's an absolute right.
If it was just outside, he's shown that he's unable to repair in a reasonable timeframe.
He's accepted liability, by taking the car in for the repair and not charging for the first few attempts, after all...0 -
Are you sure you even have any type of warranty on a 12 year old car? Or if it covers the repair needed? Most insurance-based warranties like this have so many exclusions that they're a complete waste of time and money.
Seems like you've been very casual in your dealings with him, and he's repaying the compliment by giving it low priority. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
There may well be a limited warranty provided by the seller (or a separate warranty company). But regardless of that, the CRA 2015 applies as mentioned above. (Yes, I know, the Act takes into account the age of the goods and the price paid, but a fundamental issue like overheating would be covered under goods not conforming to contract).0

What is this 'module', and does it's failure really render the car completely unusable? No free lunch, and no free laptop0
