I want to open a S&S ISA and buy shares online. Unfortunately the guide on here is obsessed with funds. Which sites are good?

I should add that with Brexit coming I'll want to buy foreign shares (I do know many UK-listed shares are international companies) -do any platforms let you keep 'cash' in Euros or $US?
Also do any allow you to pay the fees from a different account (preserving the tax-free balance)?
IWeb looks like it might be ok...0 -
Interactive Investor fits those requirements, but if you feel you can make a success out of investing in individual shares then you'll need to sharpen up your researching skills!4

That is because most people in the UK are best suited to using funds and not shares. MSE focuses on mainstream and not niche. And those wanting to build share portfolios typically need much larger sums of money and a higher level of knowledge and understanding and MSE isn't really the place for them. We do sometimes see newbie investors think that shares are the right thing but usually that is down to poor understanding.Timlagor said:I want to open a S&S ISA and buy shares online. The guide doesn't even make clear that you can trade shares through iWebdunstonh said:

This just reinforces my point about researching - it's effectively a self-defeating argument to cite perceived weaknesses in that MSE guide, as anyone feeling the need to rely on a high-level and elementary article about investing on a site like this is definitely not ready to invest in shares!Timlagor said:
