Saving money on BT email address

A few years ago I switched my internet supplier to Gigaclear. I gave up my BT phoneline and use Vonage for the phone. At the time, to keep by BT internet address BT charged me £5/month, now £7.50. Recently, after a scam email about my BT charges, I checked my BT account details and found that they now allow you to keep your email address for free. Can I claim back the charges from when this free service was introduced?

Yes, this is what they now offer but when I switched the basic , free, option was not available. I don't remember them telling us when it was introduced so thought it was worth Martin putting this on the weekly email.
