    If you're fitting this yourself, bear in mind it will probably need an earth wire- your plastic ceiling rose may not have one. 
    There may be a fixed connector for the wire inside the ceiling rose of the fitting, in which case you can shorten the flex & strip back the ends to make the connection using the choc block.  If you're not sure how to do that it's a job for an electrician!
