EON ripping customers off with weird estimated then revised bills !!!!

Greetings people.

So I have got my electric bill from Eon yesterday and they sent me an estimated one first so I gave them my meter readings today and then they sent me a revised one, ok no probs. BUT when I look at the bill something jumps out straight away and I want to ask if I’m right or wrong here …ok my estimated bill is for £540.21 now this is an imaginary figure completely made up by the fairies in the clouds and has nothing to do with the reality we live in, it is NOT how much I have used.

Then I have my revised bill which is different, I will show you.

So the top line is the imaginary one from the estimate, the second is my actual usage and charges for this new bill, and third line is vat obviously.  ok do the math.  £167.14 + £8.36 = £175.5 which is my actual bill for this month surely ???

But take the £175.5 off the £540.21 which is imaginary figure and has no relevance on my bill at all and you get £364.71 which is how much they are trying to charge me. So basically they have come up with an imaginary figure then taken my actual usage off that figure and charged me the difference, I mean really what kind of maths is that. Now is it me or am I being scammed here because that does not seem right to me at all. If I’m being crazy will someone please tell me or if I’m right also please tell me. Many thanks in advance. Ros

From the above revised bill it reads to me that £167.14 + £8.36 = £175.50 is the overestimate which is why these 2 lines are shown as CR (credit).
    £364.71 is your actual usage.

    Hi,
"I mean really what kind of maths is that."
Simple arithmetic really, you were overcharged x number of imaginary units, you gave them an up to date reading and they amended your bill, deducting the imaginary units and vat (£175.50), resulting in you now owing £364.71.
"If I’m being crazy will someone please tell me."

Now, you may dispute that you still owe £364.71, but was the previous bill also estimated and never corrected?

Could you post page 2 please  - the one which shows the debit from the last bill and the calculations.

You have all the numbers available to work out exactly what your bill should have been, just do the calculation for your kWh used and standing charge then answer your own question, no need to guess...
... unless you can come back and show that your actual usage was £175.5, not £364.71 then I'm with the others, you are just not understanding the bill and E.On are charging you correctly...

Ros8 - I see with your other thread that you have an Eon Heatwise tariff - is this billed quarterly ? If so (assuming there are no estimated readings or DD's involved) the £364.71 sounds correct.

    Hello Ros8,

Thank you to everyone on the thread.

There's not much to add, but I would advise you to keep putting meter reads on to your account, this will help to avoid this. The online account is the best way to do it, as you can then produce real time bills and balances. Sp you know exactly where you are.

There is also quite a few features online to show you where you're using the energy and to help you save.

    Thank you
