Polaire Air Cooler

Options
I've just seen a plug for the Polaire Air Cooler. Apparently it's an alternative to air conditioning, less expensive to run, less noisy kinder to the environment and so on.
It sounded interesting so I had a look at the website (https://getpolaire.com) and the running costs seem pretty good, but I wondered if anyone else has used these units and what you thought of them? Currently, we don't have air-con just fans in the house. According to their website, we might save around 37w unit on unit compared to fans.
Any views or experience would be appreciated.

A quick search on Google for reviews has brought this up. This is the summary -

    Final verdict

Going by the lack of substantial and verified Getpolaire.Com Reviews, we have concluded that the site is not authentic and legitimate. The presence of copied content, lack of customer reviews outside the site, and the remarks in some of the websites and forums calling the site a scam makes us extremely doubtful about the site’s credibility.

Besides, the positive reviews that they have shown in their site seem to be generated to lead unsuspecting customers into buying the product. The site is SSL certified, but that does not make its products verified and according to the standards. All this makes us advise you to avoid shopping from this site and choose another website that is popular for the guaranteed working of its products.

have seen this being heavily advertised on YouTube.
For 2 (?) engineers who revolutionised the air con industry they sure don't know how to make or present an even basic looking website.

If they were as good as they claim, everyone would be cloning and selling 'em.
Decent air con is not cheap to run . .

We have a lot of evaporative a/c here in Australia. So much cheaper and far better than the other system they use so much here. In our last house we had it it ducted into all the rooms.  So nice when the temp hits 35C+.  Only costs the same as running an ordinary fan.

I've got one. I bought it via Alibaba and it cost me $59 including shipping to Malta. It's not a con but they were very heavily advertised by various sellers last year. It's nothing like AC but it works okay as long as you fill it with icy water. It lasts several hours before you have to refill it. I haven't used it this year as our temp is only about 32 so far but it will climb to about 40 and then I'll use it along with my ceiling fan.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.
  • I saw their triumphantly presented video on YouTube. Looked very exciting and convincing, but the text was littered with spelling mistakes/typos. Put me right off!
  • As evebeme notes, it's a workable principle. Great in dry heat (but the power drain for normal AC is minimised then too), progressively less useful as the humidity rises. It works on the same principle as a spray misting bottle. In no way revolutionary (google "bong cooler") but then I guess a product doesn't need to change physics to succeed. I too was put off by the "yes, we've inventad warrp driv andiT's amaezing" over-triumphant, under-spellchecked Youtube video!
  • Search for Trustpilot Polaire reviews on Google. I did, as it looked like a great little device. I will NOT be getting one haha!

If you go to the main site. Choose the item so it goes to checkout. Then DO NOT BUY but click on ContactUs and it takes you to a totally different domain, cscpremium.com that makes no mention of them at all.

You can also watch the scam image popping up at the bottom of the cart page, to mislead you into thinking lots of people in (wherever it detects you are based) are purchasing it in real time. A psychological attempt at making you believe its a must have item.

What is very clear is Googles inability to police its own YouTube adverts. It loves policing YouTubers but doesn't appear to care anywhere near as much about the adverts as it makes money from them regardless.

    Avoid it.

    Couldn't agree more.
YouTube seems happy to dictate massive restrictions on the creators and will demonetise at the drop of a hat - but don't appear to be anywhere near as efficient at policing the stuff that makes them money -- the benefit of "owning" the platform I guess
