Car Service

I'm a little confused by this comment. Did the garage actually say the car would have new brakes fitted immeditely prior to you collecting? Do you have this in writing?Lynn63 said:I was told that it would be given a full service, brakes and everything before it left the garage.
The way you end the sentence "and everything" makes me wonder if that's what they actually said. It would be unusual for a garage to replace the brakes just because they're selling a car, unless they needed replacing.
If they actually did say you'd get new brakes, then you've definitely got a case. Brakes last tens of thousands of miles. No driving style would wear them out in 3,500 miles.
Edit: reading further into the thread, it seems this has been resolved.

I've spoken with the garage and have now said that after looking at the car again the brake discs definitely need replacing as well as the pads. From what has been posted and I've read if the pads were 100 % worn down then the discs should be replaced too. The garage has not backed down, however they have agreed to replace the discs and pads for a £100 less than their original price so not a total loss. I've learned a valuable lesson if I buy another car I will be asking a lot more questions. Thanks for all your posts, they've all been really helpful.0

Salesman will not always be entirely honest, if you are buying a car and dont know much about them, best to either take along someone who does or have a independent report done
