If you want to know whether there is one, read the manual. Or look it up online.Lynn63 said:I mentioned the warning light as the car seems to have warning lights for everything else, so I was thinking as the brakes are the most important part of the car, or to me anyway, I would have thought there would be one.

I wouldn't know where to start to look at brake pads or what they look like if I found them and yes Arnold sharks it is0

Key here is one year past on a service that may have reported brake pads as adequate and car driven since .Cannot prove the service ignored the pads . Yes if it was a month and a few miles later , no at one year and 3500 miles later .Push the dealer for a discount on the replacements .1

I understand where your coming from but I bought the car in June and have been unable to drive since August, had I have known there was a problem I could have taken it back and still been within the first 3 months but had no idea there was an issue.0

I've just checked the online manual and it states 'If it comes on during braking and is accompanied by the ® warning light and a beep, it indicates that the fluid level in the circuit is low or that there is a braking system fault'. The light didn't come on.1

A worn pad isn’t a fault. That doesn’t say the light will come on for worn padsLynn63 said:I've just checked the online manual and it states 'If it comes on during braking and is accompanied by the ® warning light and a beep, it indicates that the fluid level in the circuit is low or that there is a braking system fault'. I would cut your losses and take your car to a proper garage for service in future,
whilst they should probably changed them before, they were probably good enough to pass their inspection and proving different after a year will be almost impossible1 -
Don't buy from Arnold Clark and neither get them to service a car.Id get it checked out by another garage if you can.1

Take you motor to a recommended local independent.
Probably a third of the of a main dealer.
Oh & also forget trying to get anything out of AC.
Not going to happen in my opinion.

Thanks for all your posts. The service manager is supposed to be ringing me tomorrow, I'll update after the conversation. The service engineer is in agreement with me and can understand my frustration, which is nice but as he has no authority to do anything about it, not really useful. If I don't get any satisfaction, I'll have to do cut my losses, cancel the service agreement and as you have said, find another garage.0
