Best no annual fee cash (or reward) back credit card which is not American Express?

We have had an ASDA credit card for ages which paid a small % back in ASDA store vouchers on any spend we did on the card but this arrangement ends on 13/7/20.  I was hoping ASDA would put a similar option with a different credit card/backing company forward but they do not seem to be doing so.  I have been on some comparison sites and typed in "best cash back or reward credit card" and very little comes up except American Express but we want to avoid them as so many firms say they will not take their cards (I was suprised as in this climate I thought many were being forced on to "plastic" transaction methods).  Is there any current cash back or reward back credit card available for someone on a wage of £17K or am I best using my bank card as a debit card until the credit card market picks up again? (I have cleared my mortgage recently and was wondering if that would actually count against us now as it is one less "credit product" we have)

    Barclaycard Rewards?

Not sure why but the eligability checker said wont be able to get that card.  It is perhaps as it said most likely to be accepted if salary £20,000 and we only have a £17,000 salary coming in but we have had credit cards for years and always paid them off in full every month every time and have a really good credit rating.

If you spend a reasonable amount with them anyway the M&S credit card is worth having but even worse than the barclaycard for non M&S spend. Sainsbury MasterCard also offers nectar points with equivalent value of about 1% for spending with them. Similar with John Lewis/Waitrose partnership card. Good idea to get one of these cards for your grocery spend if you shop with that particular store anyway as you’re always going to need to buy groceries aren’t you.  Why don’t you want an Amex?

Thanks.  We do not really shop much in M&S or John Lewis/Waitrose.  We shop in Sainsbury but rarely - mostly we use Morrisons/ASDA and ALDI.  The reason for not wanting Amex is lots of places do not seem to accept it (I think they charge more than most credit card in fees to the person accepting the transaction) - for eg I just renewed my home insurance and when it came to the card payment it said "anything but not American Express".  I might be best just using the bank card debit card for a while and perhaps re-getting an Amazon card in a while where I can at least get a £10 Amazon voucher as their intro offer since it seems there is not a great deal "out there" at the moment.  I will see if I can keep the ASDA Mastercard going even though there is no longer any cashback with it since we are already accepted with that one and have built up a reasonable credit allowed balance on it.

Aldi is accepting Amex. Moreover, occasionally there are "shop small" offers where you get 5£ cashback for spending over £10 in a small non-chain local shop, e.g. butcher, cafe, etc.

Check your eligability for the barclaycard forward after a year you can normally upgrade to a different card. I upgraded to the Barclaycard rewards I was earning under £20,000 the time.

The Aqua reward card which paid 0.5% cash back was withdrawn for new customers in February.

If you are planning a trip to the USA or Asia take a look at the Virgin Mastercard.
Earn miles on all spends, points can be used towards flights (you pay taxes which can be high)
Best to pay cash for flight then use points for a class upgrade and travel in style. Plenty of time to collect points while restrictions are on and think about your 2021 summer holiday

I just tried to find that but it seems it is temporarily withdrawn? https://www.yourmoney.com/credit-cards-loans/aqua-pulls-0-5-cashback-credit-card/
