I use both in equal measure in different parts of the house. I have liquid anti bacterial soap in the kitchen
I have bar soap in the bathroom which is made in France, similar to L'Occitane and it smells lovely, stays hard and lasts ages. I use gel in the shower.0 -
Me too. I've bought 1 litre refill bag of liquid soap, so that reduces plastic somewhat, but I know I still have a long way to go - especially as I drink a lot of fizzy drinksnewlywed said:I use bar soap and bar shampoo as well... It's not difficult!

That's interesting. I was thinking of trying solid shampoo to cut down on liquids when flying. Then lockdown came. So, if and when we get to fly anywhere..... 🤔😉hb2 said:Just as I decided to use more bar soap, to cut down on single use plastics, my OH decided that he prefers liquid soap*! I know it is possible to make liquid from bar soap but 'compromised' by buying liquid soap refills for him, whilst I stick to bars. I have a wire soap dish, so it doesn't go slimy. I've also just started using solid shampoo and conditioner too.

Liqiud soap in the bathroom and kitchen. I buy Dr Bronner soap and dilute it with either water or Waitrose liquid sensitive soap. I can't abide slimy soap bars or bars that others have used so end up washing it. Dr Bronner's makes castile soaps (who remembers Knight's Castile?)Castile soap is just like regular soap, except a whole lot more eco friendly. Instead of being made from lard, tallow, or other animal fats, it is made from vegetable oils - traditionally, olive oil, and is considered a vegan soapSo am doing my eco thing a different way! There are bars of soap in the house, perhaps 'just in case' though not sure of what!

A friend recommended Soho soap co to me, she said they were the best shampoo bars she had tried. I've only just started using the shampoo (haven't finished my old conditioner yet) but it seems OK thus far. They come in their own little tin, so are good for travelling too.maman said:

I'm 35 and use soap bars and shampoo bars to reduce plastic waste.1

Always used to use soap but the last maybe 5 or 6 years more liquid soap has been used, I do prefer liquid though.0

I've been using soap for a few years, with liquid soap in the kitchen (that one lasts ages as isn't used as often).
I'm also trying to cut down on plastic, but if anything it seems to be increasing. A lot of things seem to be in plastic bags, wrappers, plastic bottles etc and everything that can be recycled is.

Until a fortnight ago I would have been in the Under 30's category. This is the first thing I've had to declare myself as over 30 for, and I'm not sure how I feel about it! :sweat_smilie:coffeehound said:Take-home point: there are no young people left in MSE forum
I'm totally liquid soap - I've never found a solid soap bar which doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and horrible. I try to be cost and environmentally conscious, so believe me, I've tried loads. Instead, I buy it in bulk quantity and decant it from the large containers into pretty ceramic dispensers. This way one large plastic bottle will last me most of a year.
I'm looking at swapping to those where you take a container into a shop and they refill it, but those products are so expensive in comparison!1
