im 37, no points and 17 years no claims. Previously paid ~£33 per month totalling £400 for the year, the cheapest i can find is £570. how can this be justified, nothing has changed!!

So look for a better deal on one of the comparison sites as many people do, I've never known a renewal price be cheaper in all the years I've been driving/riding, the insurance companies show no loyalty and so neither do I.0

Yep I have seen that too but don't give up, there's more than one comparison site AND you can also try going direct to one of the big boys, Aviva, Direct line then as a further option try a broker, I had to jump through hoops trying to insure a 'brand new' BMW bike prices were scary!! BUT i eventually got a deal paying £500 less than the meerkats quoted me.
I'm convinced insurance companies give out cheap quotes to 'new customers' and then hope we're stupid enough to accept their renewal quote!0 -
Has your postcode become higher risk for some reason? Remember, the big risk for insurers is not total loss of your vehicle, or other's, but serious injury to yourself or a 3rd party.
My renewal quote last week was 31% up: I got that down to -10% on a comp site.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
There seems to be a consensus that insurance prices are going up, because of Covid-19. (It used to be because of Brexit
)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

It's called inflation. The price we pay for reckless 'money printing' of billions by the gov't.

It's a BMW. They get stolen daily where I live. That could be a factor.0

My renewal price a month ago was less than I paid last year.
A significant increase suggests a risk has increased and vehicle type is the obvious one if no other changes.
