Just change suppliers. With faster changes now it takes just two or three days and you're done.0

If you have edf and smart meters have you looked at energy hub? In essence it is monthly billing, as it shows usage and cost per month, and you can compare to previous year too. Seems less antiquated than a paper bill to me! The only minor thing is energy hub rounds the standing charge (down) to the nearest penny.

Handy to know “Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly) Presumably that still gives normal DD discount.
Just gone through my calculations for last few days. Took half hour.
Am totally convinced there should be a monthly bill showing whats been used for every enegy customer.
My folks nearly 90 are just waiting to see in 2 more months,
Edit its not the DD . its just knowing how much youve used.0 -
ah those graphs look similar to my old Utility Point graphs nice

Yes, the Direct Debit discount still applies.jvjack said:Handy to know “Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly) Presumably that still gives normal DD discount.
Either build a spreadsheet and it will take less than a minute, or use the Energy Hub as suggested above. It normally takes two days to show total daily usage and then at some point on the third day the data showing data broken down into 30 minute slots becomes available.jvjack said:Just gone through my calculations for last few days. You can be convinced, but it will not change the reality that there is not.jvjack said:Am totally convinced there should be a monthly bill showing whats been used for every enegy customer.
They could either use the smart meter data, if they are not on a smart meter, or are not submitting readings then it will be an estimate anyway.jvjack said:My folks nearly 90 are just waiting to see in 2 more months,
The Direct Debit is one thing, the usage data is another, the bill is another. Monthly usage can be seen from smart meter data or from checking a dumb meter oneself. The Direct Debit is just putting the money into a pot, the bill reconciles the usage against the pot of money and at that point the customer will either be in credit or debt.jvjack said:Edit its not the DD . its just knowing how much youve used.0 -
I'm not so much thinking of myself but in general. Lots on here are savy and can do spreadsheets etc and hook up smart meteres to phone. I myself can simply do calculations with meter readings. Maybe its just EDf that dont give monthly useage , not sure. Maybe others can say.

Edf do give monthly usage. I just shared screenshots. You just need a smart meter, then it’s all accessed via your online account automatically - nothing for a customer to set up at all beyond the online account itself. You can access it from a computer, tablet or phone all via the edf website. No app or anything special required.Have you tried it?Saving for Christmas 2023 - £1 a day: #16. £90/£365

several suppliers bill on quarterly or 6 monthly. british gas has had several threads recently i think where people have been panicking because they havent had a bill for 6 months. lots of people were also complaining recently because ovo moved them to monthly bills when they wanted to stay not he quarterly there used to.jvjack said:I'm not so much thinking of myself but in general. not much chance of forcing a company to do something they dont have to do. but its easy enough to move to someone who bills the way you want and its not like theres a big difference in rates at the moment for the standard variable.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

thanks, yes and i commented on them. They are nice. I'm trying all the time to get one fitted in a holiday so as to not have day off work and it so far has not got done.
But it's not about me. I can read meter each week and i know what i've used.
It's simple to me. Send in meter read to EDF each month to have bill. Yes i read post about Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly) But most people just wait for bill without knowing.

Ah. Yeah. Ok. The wait for someone to fit a meter is shocking.According to Ofgem the billing period is pretty standard.Saving for Christmas 2023 - £1 a day: #16. £90/£365
