another_casualty said:Update : When looking for ceo of EDF , I found an article from the Telegraph telling us how to complain . I emailed the complaints team and !!!!!!! who is ceo.I tore into them while requesting the deadlock letter. That's not the 'Managing Director - Customers' that I suggested...Rather than 'tearing into them', it would have been better to have mentioned, unemotionally and politely, that you did not owe them any money and therefore they have no reason to block your switch to another supplier. In the meantime, it may be worth trying to switch again. EDF may have blocked your switch by mistake e.g. if their records hadn't been updated. OK, this shouldn't happen, but with the coronavirus aggro it's more likely that things can sometimes go wrong.1

Ooops! 😸
Thanks for that Gerry 1 . I've done the change now . You raised a good point about the coronavirus situation ,and normally I'm always patient and understanding .I guess the pent up frustration got the better of me. Being in isolation and putting up with other stuff hasn't helped . What's done is done .The one thing about this orbit mob is that they just send random emails but no acknowledgement of my reluctance to change to them . I think that may be down to the coronavirus situation .
There's nothing more I can do now . Although I ripped into them , edf fully deserved it.
They have had far worse people than me to deal with .I won't do any more now, as I have had an email from them acknowledging my complaint
I will update when I hear further .Thanks0 -

Being in isolation and putting up with other stuff hasn't helped.Yes, everyone's a bit frazzled at the moment, so little aggravations get magnified. The good news is that with the long hours of daylight and the higher temperatures, your usage will be at its lowest, and the extra expense of being stuck with EDF for a few weeks will be minimal. And if you try again to switch away from EDF and are successful, you could be on a cheap tariff with someone else in three weeks' time. If not, then you may get £30 compensation if EDF blocked the switch without justification.1

Well .. I got an email from the CEO of EDF , at 19.55pm
Briefly , she said she is very sorry that I was disappointed in their service etc among other things I pointed out .A member from their executive liaison office will be in touch to provide all assistance required.
She is mindful of my preference not to have a smart meter at this time .In my complaint , I did mention that I felt trapped and that the only way to get the best deal was to lie down with a rifle pointed at my head and accept the smart meter .
I also did explain that the gvt are insisting that suppliers push smart meters onto everybody and I understand that , but want to wait until I have absolutely no choice in the matter .Not sure what the next steps are but I'm worn out going through it all .I will thank the CEO for her swift response and concern .I do see the good and bad in everything .I'll leave it there for now ..0 -
I think you'll find he's a bloke.0

Another brief update :
I sent a polite email to the ceo on Saturday . I thanked him for his help and swift input etc
Of course I pointed out that I should have taken into the situation about the corona virus etc and as I say I always point out the good and bad .He sent a nice email in return yesterday .It seems the logical thing to stay with them for the summer period and see what gives.Going through what I actually use and calculating has been a bit of a pain for me and I've made a few mistakes when trying to jump ship as you know .Edf know how much I have been using , so I shouldn't have much trouble undestanding my usage in the future .I need to do monthly readings again . Something I let slip for one reason or another .
i'll leave it there for now ..0 -
Well, I received a very nice and detailed email from the exec team at EDF.The lady who sent the email , was very professional and helpful .I got awarded another £25 as a goodwill gesture covering the few months between my electric tariff expiring until my new tariff. Even then , I'm allowed to move without penalty
However, as that is £50:awarded over a weekend in total plus professional and friendly handling of my issues I think it is fair to commit myself for some time yet .Plus ...smart meters will not be installed while I am still with them 😸
I have just received another emai from the lady who dealt with my complaints and £25 has just been added to my electric account ..plus nice email 😼👍0 -
EDF saga closed ..Orbit begins

I just received an email from an Orbit adviser telling me they are going to keep trying to
switch . I allowed for coronavirus holdups etc but since 30th June the only response I have had is from the adviser today . The direct debit has been set up too .
So I just followed the procedure and sent in a complaint via email explaining that I do not want to switch .
The welcome pack has not bern posted to me , so I don't know what's going on .I'll see what the email says from orbit when I get it0 -
Just received a nice email from the complaints team at Orbit .
