Printer shortages?

I'd also add that I have now put 15 sheets of paper in it and marked the date, to see what we actually use/need.
This way if we do need a new one in the future, we'll have a better idea what ink package to go for. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)2 -
There was a bug in a recent Windows update, It stopped a lot of printers working. So I suspect many, with old printers, went out and bought new ones.

Managed to get myself a Canon Pixma TS5150 from Argos the other day, I had to get new printer when my sister burrowed my old Canon printer for her children during the lockdown, and then recently offered to buy it off me. I'm quite happy with it.1

I have the 6150 and also happy with it after >12 months, except for a wireless problem after moving to a new home. Printer and desktop are 3 rooms away from the router in the lounge, so I changed the weak Plusnet Hub for a much better TP-Link AV 500 and it's all good.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

My first Canon printer lasted 7 years before it broke, and the second one there was nothing wrong with, but it just wouldn't work Windows 10 when my laptop updated.Robisere said:I have the 6150 and also happy with it after >12 months, except for a wireless problem after moving to a new home. Just by way of an update.
It's been a month since we fixed the printer and I've kept note of how many sheets we've used and the grand total is.....

I think I'm going to have to print for prints sake just to keep everything moving!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0 -
It seemed like every time I printed with an inkjet printer my printouts would have bits missing or drag lines on them, and I'd have to faff around cleaning heads, printing test pages and wasting ink.Sea_Shell said:Just by way of an update.

After many years and several inkjet printers I gave up and bought a laser printer.
Since November 2019 I've printed a whopping 75 pages: 42 colour and 33 monochrome.
Like you, I don't print much. That probably explains why the ink would dry.
I think for many people an inkjet printer is a false economy.0 -

We probably will look seriously at going "laser" when this one finally gives up the ghost. As it is i can get ink fairly cheaply (Amazon) and the prints are coming out OK. If it starts to become a real PITA then we'll look to change it.

Had a quick look and we're printing an average of 70 pages per month, costing £40 per year. And the printer cost £20 4 years ago. (HP Instant Ink).SnowTiger said:I think for many people an inkjet printer is a false economy.0
