Buyer wants to see property again 2 days after offer accepted

Hi, we accepted an offer on our house yesterday. Buyers only saw the house once. They have now asked to come back in a few days to take some measurements. Is this normal? I worry they’re having second thoughts. We have agreed to this, as if they change their minds I’d rather know now, but wondering if it’s normal. Also, should we be there? We have nothing to hide obviously! Thank you

  • Thanks. I intend to be nice and cooperative (obviously), was just wondering if it’s normal.

I offered on a house after one viewing and then asked to go back to 'take measurements' (wanted to check cost of replacing a couple of windows and needed sizes). Wanting to revisit a property during the process of buying it is perfectly normal I would say.

You've offered on a property, love it with an enthusiasm that you don't know what to do with.., so you try to plan and ask to revisit and get measurements.  Might be hard for some people to understand but having been in that position, I certainly can lol.  You lose nothing by letting them visit a second time.

Normal. We bought a sofa to fit in a bay window of a house we were buying, without measuring the bay first. Luckily it fits. Would've been better to have gone and measured though.

Buyers do visit several times even up to exchange, maybe because they want to look at finer details in the house, things you wouldn't really looked at first viewing. I would say it's fine, and I think it would be more worrying if you didn't let them view again.

Often there is pressure to put in your offer quickly if there is competition for the property. I have asked for 2nd viewings before and been told there are still a weeks worth of viewings booked in ahead of me, so I have then made an offer expecting another viewing if that offer was accepted. If I was spending six figures I'd want to see it again, and probably a third time before exchange as well.

  • Thanks all, very reassuring. They’re of course welcome to visit again
