And just to add, there was a letter from the council in the post. Its a bill for 2019/20 and the amount at the bottom is (minus) -£248.10, the amount of the refund that was due. No action required due to the exemption (yes, we know that and had already received a similar note with a different minus amount on it!!)
The council in question is Westminster Council. Anyone had any dealing with them?

That tells you they are still making adjustments, which is why it needs looked at properly to figure out what is going on with it.

Every council is different - I think Westminster may be one of the few I've never dealt with.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
