What's a kipper?[DELETED USER] said:Grumpy_chap said:There won't be any deals coming up in the near future as, after last night's announcement, there will be 3 million Hong Kong nationals popping over and all needing cars, houses etc. Buy now before the rush! I am even thinking of doing a BTL so that I can max out on the rent
Don't be a kipper
My note was tongue in cheek, thought the smiley made that clear.

Could not be further from the truth - the variety of people we welcome to the country strengthens us all. I also find that those that made a positive choice to live here are more positive about the country, more grateful and more hardworking than the average person.0

I'm with you on that.Grumpy_chap said:Not that the motoring press have any incentive to boost the industry of which they are part and "talk up" demand and prices...
I suspect any 'bounce; in demand will be short-lived as "need to buy" customers expire and the reality of the slowdown bites.
Another interesting fact I was in Copart Whitburn page yesterday and for the sale next Monday (no sale this week) there were only 129 cars for sale. At the start of covid there were 275-325 cars for sale EVERY week at Whitburn a lot less accidents over the period.0 -

Was in the same situation for Mrs Not an Expert. We'd used Carwow but also been to local franchised dealer, then played one against the other, with Carwow dealer giving 11.5% off new, compared to local dealer's paltry 4%, knowing they were struggling for sales.crafty_carrot said:Good Morning,
I’m at a loss to know when to buy a new car! Was at point of purchase as we went into lockdown, only to find now the price has gone up over £1000.... gulp. Should I wait till things settle in the hope prices go back to pre Covid, or buy now? Advice appreciated, thank you, Craftycarrot
We pulled out of deal day before lockdown having paid a deposit, as partner had to shield for 3 months and didn't want a new car sitting idle for that time - I have my own. When lockdown ended, we contacted the dealer, resurrected the deal at the same price. Very pleased with the car indeed - and the Carwow dealer.
And dont feel guilty about buying at a better price elsewhere, then using local dealer for servicing. It's all part of the game.0 -
I thought that was remainers telling everyone why leave voters voted for Brexit? It's certainly the case on places like Reddit where the vast majority of people who say leave voters were fearmongering about immigration and voted for Brexit to stop brown people coming in (even though the vast majority of EU citizens are white and Brexit actually makes the playing field ironically more equal for brown people) were posters who voted remain.[DELETED USER] said:

You do realise you are using the incorrect terminology don't you?MinuteNoodles said:
