GDB2222 said:Have you determined what her objection is about? A little trip hazard fence seems a dangerous nuisance, especially for the elderly. Marking the edge of your drive with a different colour might be absolutely fine all round. It’s a great shame that you didn’t discuss it first.
Incidentally, you currently do have a dispute, but I’m not clear whether you need to disclose it if it’s resolved by the time you come to sell.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)2 -
I don’t think this dispute would be a deal breaker for me, if I were buying, but it would make me stop and think. Both about the neighbours and the sellers! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

As your neighbour I'd be annoyed firstly because you didn't have the basic good manners to have a word before altering what sounds like a long standing boundary and secondly because I loathe those foot high pretend fences, usually painted white which tend to be put in places by the territorially bothered where really no fence is better and more practical. When you say it just looks better I suspect that will be subjective plus they tend to have nuisance value for tripping, lack of visibility for parking/car doors and for gardening inconvenience. I accept of course my 2nd point is a personal peeve and would keep it to myself. For the record though, pots & solar lights are not sounding hugely more attractive to me as the already grumpy neighbour.
If you want to move soon , concede defeat on this one - the covenant is probably a red herring but the angry neighbour could be a real issue and you didn't handle it well. No excuse for the rude abusive neighbour but its you who wants to move.3 -
Take out the fence. Don't put anything else. Avoid any further disputes. 6 months is Nov - Dec, generally not a good time to sell.0

There is also the possibility of not being able to see the fence when reversing in or out of the parking space.0

Nothing wrong with plants pots and lights, if you want an easy life don't do it but its up to you. How old is the neighbour? Could you shout Boo to her one day and solve the problem that way?
Notice - Don't shout BooAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0 -
Maybe put some sunken bricks/pavers (same height as your gravel) to 'mark' the borders?

Yeah, but do it straight.1

Take it as a lesson learnt and to communicate with your neighbours before making alterations that may affect them. The elderly in particular have little else to do then stew about silly little things. As to wether to take it down or start a dispute just before you are about to sell, do you really need to ask ?0
