We're FTB with 10% deposit and our broker (who has been brilliant with service, advice, communication and patience) has managed to get us the HSBC product. I had a very similar product lined up with a regional Building Society but would've had to apply direct. My view, contrary to the OPs broker, was that the number of 90% LTV products was reducing - not increasing. In fact, HSBC have increased their rates and product fees yesterday, just after we'd had our offer thankfully. We'd found the house we really wanted and was well within our budget so wanted to get on with it.
Incidentally, our broker has said all along her job is to get us a mortgage and help us buy a house, not just fill in an application. Her fee is payable on completion. Not sure if that is unusual or not, but is certainly appreciated.

My understanding was that rates and fees were rising and LTV reducing across the board.
