Warranty and new build home appliances.

Hi,
Moved into a new build home 2 months ago and the fridge freezer that came with the house, a Zanussi, has been making noise, it's driving me crazy. The house is tiny and open plan, so my sofa is 1 metre from this fridge-freezer. It goes 'eeeeee!', pause, 'eeeeeee!', pause 'eeeeeeeeeeeee', and goes for about 10 minutes every 2 hours or so.
Anyway, I have a 1 year free warranty, but it asks for proof of purchase. How does this work with a new build property in which the appliance came with the house. Do I just show Zanussi proof of when I purchased the home?

No you speak to the builder, that is who your contract is with.0

The first thing to look at is your new build warranty from the house builder - it should explain what warranty cover you have with the fridge freezer (and other white goods).
The house builder might have an arrangement with Zanussi where the warranty gets transferred to the home buyer.
Or Zanussi might do something on a goodwill basis - even though you don't have a warranty with them
If neither of those apply, and the house builder's warranty doesn't cover it either, you have to take it up with the house builder. If they sold you the fridge freezer as part of a separate contract (e.g a bundle of extras), you should have normal consumer rights (fit for purpose, satisfactory quality etc.)
But if it was part of the house contract, normal consumer rights probably don't apply.

Didn't the builder leave you all the warranty and instruction manuals for all the appliances? When I bought a new build I was supplied with paperwork for everything and just had to register the appliances with the different manufacturers.1

I’ve noticed my Beko does the same thing - but I don’t hear it much because it’s in another room.
Not sure I could be trusted with cold beer a metre from the sofa!0 -

What I am asking is.....When you sign up to the warranty, Zanussi asks where you bought the appliance and does list some home builders, but not the small independent one that built my house so I selected other - please specify and named the builder. Then they state that Zanussi will need to see receipt of the purchase before anything can be fixed/replaced....
So what receipt do I use - I don't have a receipt specifically for individual appliances. Did your builder leave you the receipts for the appliances or do the manufacturers not need receipts when you have bought a new build home with the appliances already there?0 -

For the major builders they don't need the receipts as they are company accounts, the smaller builders will need to provide the receipts. In our case our builder outsourced the work to a contractor who services the fitment, and builder damage repairs - you;'ll need to get your builder to provide in your case it seems.0

And the reason they want receipts is so they know when the (manufacturer) warranty starts from ... it doesn't start when you buy the house, unless that has previously been agreed between the manufacturer and house builder.0

I'll phone Zanussi and ask them what they need in my situation, if they are aware of this builder and if they have some deal with them and maybe then I would not need to provide a receipt. Otherwise I guess I'll have to contact the builder and get them to come round with the receipt....
but what happens if the builder doesn't have or can't get hold of the receipt?.....
Will the builder have to replace the fridge freezer themselves? or will I be screwed and have to either tolerate the noice (which I cannot) or go an order a replacement fridge/freezer at my own expense?0
