Taking my number to a SIM only deal
Options
This is my first post, and apologies that I’m not tech savvy!
I have an existing phone contract with Vodaphone which has now come to the end of the contract period. I have tried to change today to a SIM only deal, still with Vodaphone, but have been told that as the deal which suits me is in their basic range I cannot take my number with me. This doesn’t seem to tally with the advice I’ve read online which indicates you can ask for a PAC code and take your number with you. Is there some different guidance for the ‘basic’ deals that I should be aware of?

PAC your number to a payg on another network then PAC it back to your new voda account1

Consider moving to Talkmobile who also use the Vodafone network but often have some good sim only deals on offer. By doing this you simply request your pac and get your existing number switched across.1

Thank you. I thought I should be able to but the person I spoke to was adamant that I cold only retain my number with an upgrade and that moving to a basic package meant I would have to have a new SIM and new number. Thanks for the talk mobile tip. I know Vodaphone have good coverage in my area which was why I had been looking to stay with them.0

What you were told might be true, or a lie to persuade you to upgrade and earn the advisor a commission.
In any case a PAC is only used for moving your number to another network, not to an account with the same one. The advice given above is good.Evolution, not revolution1 -
Lebara is also on the Vodafone network
