Holiday cancelled - lead passenger not cooperating

Hi, looking for some advice for my 18 year old daughter.  She and 4 other girls had a holiday booked with Tui to Zante in July.  We know the holiday won't be going ahead as Tui have announced they won't be flying there so just waiting to hear that the holiday has been officially cancelled.  The problem is the lead passenger on the holiday is not cooperating and won't respond to any emails Tui sends or answer their calls.  The holiday may have already been cancelled but unless she speaks to Tui we have no way of knowing. The girls have all paid £200 each and my daughter just wants her money back as do the others.  As she is not the lead passenger Tui won't speak to her.  Is there any way round it?  Thanks for any help and advice.

No.  The lead passenger needs to contact them.

Question. How do you know TUI is trying to contact her?

When they cancelled mine they just emailed me saying so. Absolutely no point in the lead passenger doing anything until she gets this and then all she needs to do is fill in the refund form on the TUI website.

They have a group chat and she's told the other girls that they have tried ringing her but she won't answer their call, says she has better things to do.  They left a voicemail saying they want to speak about the holiday. She won't check her emails to see if they've emailed to cancel.   She says she's not bothered about losing £200 but my daughter is.  So frustrating!

If it were me I would be describing her as a 'former friend'

If it were me I would start the small claims process, get the others to do the same.

They each paid £50 when they booked the holiday in store and then Tui called them indvidually a couple of months later so they could each pay the remaining £150 deposit over the phone.  She hasn't had any money off them directly but is the only person who can sort it all out for them and isn't willing to do so.

Someone will have to drag her into the shop then.

Hang on.....did someone arrange with TUI not to pay the balance? That would have been due weeks ago.

Certain sounds like only the deposit was paid.  The holiday probably lapsed due to failure to pay the full balance.  IIRC the balance is due around 12 weeks before departure and at that time Tui were not cancelling July departures.  I feel the £200 has been forfeited.
