Storage Heaters without Economy 7

Hi Everyone,
I currently have storage heaters as my only heating and am on an old two rate meter called “twin heat A”. Essentially it’s on the cheap rate for 3.5 hours at night and 3.5 hours in the afternoon. In order to switch and get a dual rate from another provider I would need to replace the economy 7 meter though as it is technically Programmed to twin heat A. As most companies don’t do economy 7 meter anymore I will be forced into a smart meter.
So my question is this, how will the storage heaters work if they’re not connected to a economy 7 meter?

Any advice will help.

Many thanks,
Lee

Smart Economy 7 meters are a thing, so it shouldn't be an issue. You might (probably will) experience problems when switching I'd you've got 2 MPANs. Your best bet would be to get the meters changed first.

If you switch, it is most likely, you will not get the afternoon boost.

Your heaters may be old and need the afternoon boost.
    What area, region are you?

You need to understand the capacity of your heaters and the amount of heat required during 24 hours to heat the room. Generally complex metering systems with afternoon and/or evening boosts were undersized as they don't have to store 17 hours from a single seven hour charge in one go - they can dissipate it and then get a recharge halfway through the day. Which means that on an E7 supply they would only be able to store half the required capacity and then radiate it for about 20 hours until the next seven hour charge so you could end up being cold for most of the afternoon and evening and require supplemental peak rate heating g from a secondary heating source.
