How to get out of a signed contract?

Because for the most part sympathy and telling the poster what they want to hear does them no favours. They need factual, helpful advice, for which the OP has had in this instance.askeym said:LarryR said:And all I was looking for was to see if there was anything else the smart people on here could suggest. Usually, when someone makes a mistake, there are options to fix it, but, disappointingly, it appears not this time.
You won't get any sympathy on this site mate.3 -
Just because people are giving honest answers, and the answers don't help the OP get any money back, doesn't mean posters aren't sympathetic to the situation they are in. As the OP says, the reviews for the company aren't good so they are unlikely to move from their T&Cs.

It sounds like you've been scared by reviews but haven't actually had a bad experience with them yourselves yet, so your only real option is to stick with the contract. If (real) problems do occur, you might have a way out then but you can't get out of it because somebody else had a problem.
It sounds like you've exhausted their good will but I would go back and see if there is anything else that would suit your home better, then ask (nicely!) if you can swap to that.2 -
Just to be clear, I wasn't looking for sympathy, I was hoping for practical options that I hadn't considered.
I was polite, apologetic and honest with them, yes I was disappointed with their response, which would have come across in my emails, but was hopeful they would see the bigger picture. I thought they would be more flexible, more understanding, at a time when most companies are bending over backwards to help customers.
Ultimately, it would have cost them nothing to cancel the order, but they chose to hold me to it. It would have been easy for them to call back when they said they would or spend two minutes sending an email saying they haven't forgotten me and they're still waiting to hear from the factory, etc. But they didn't.
They've made a sale, but lost a customer, in my eyes. Do they care? Apparently not. And IMHO that's the difference between a good company, one that I would use time and again, and a company that is just after the money, which I would steer clear of in future and warn other people away from, if asked. But then what do I know?!?0 -
Is there any reason why you didn’t get in contact with your credit card company to try and cancel the transaction, especially if the shop tried to put the payment through Sunday/Monday? If you were successful, the shop may have a case against you if it goes against their T&C’s.0

To be honest they lost a customer the minute you decided to cancel. Given the reviews you've read you wouldn't have gone back had they refunded.LarryR said:Just to be clear, I wasn't looking for sympathy, I was hoping for practical options that I hadn't considered.

This company is clearly a shyster
Really? Who is it that's trying to get out of the contract?

I guess you want a full refund? So how have you compromised fairly with them?

I see it all too often in these forums, people with a sadistic keyboard jumping on the bandwagon of spite, using the psychological situation of making themselves feel better by projecting nastiness onto someone in a predicament. There's a certain way of explaining things, a nasty way and a more civilised way.

There's been absolutely no nastiness in this thread.askeym said:societys_child said:

Okay, let me explain. This site was set up by Lewis to HELP people save money. Since then it has expanded into many various forums still with the same ethos of HELPING people, not judging people, but helping them. There is no need to be brutally frank when commenting on a thread. We all have a choice depending on our personalities on how we go about making those comments. We can either JUDGE or HELP, and if we decide to help we can either do it nicely or do it in such a way it can make the person requesting assistance helped or judged. Does that explain it?
