Just messaging here partly to vent frustration but also in the hope that one day it may help someone to think twice before taking out Yelloh! Village cancellation insurance.
Sold as an add-on option to make you believe you have an extra level of security, if for whatever reason you need to cancel your booking.
This couldn't be further from the truth!
I booked back in Feb before Corona-Virus was an issue but now our Easyjet flights have been cancelled due to Covid-19 and we are not able to get to France you would think that would be covered by this policy.
Here's their response:
Dear Mr, Mrs,
We acknowledge receipt of your request for compensation concerning your reservation made with SAS SILLO as part of insurance Campez-Couvert YELLOH.
Your reservation must have been canceled due to the consequences of the Coronavirus epidemic which is affecting the entire territory. You are in one of the following two situations:
  • closure of the establishment on the dates of the planned stay
OR
  • limitation of your travel preventing you from going to your place of stay on the scheduled dates.
We confirm that your file has therefore been opened for this reason for cancellation and that no other reason communicated later will be taken into account.
We remind you that the epidemic is expressly excluded from the cancellation insurance contract.
If your contract includes the “prohibition by a local authority” clause, the latter gives the possibility of intervening in the event of an epidemic to respond to purely local situations, when access to the geographic area around the establishment is prohibited and not a health crisis following a global pandemic with general restrictions on activity and reasons for movement decreed by national authorities.
As it stands, we are therefore sorry to be unable to give a favorable response to your request for compensation under the cancellation insurance contract and classify your file.
However, in the current context of a unique and unprecedented health crisis, regardless of the insurance contract, if the reservation cannot be honored due to exceptional circumstances, we advise you to contact your service provider with whom you made your reservation to consider the implementation of their cancellation policy following the exceptional circumstances of the fight against Covid19 which will integrate, where appropriate, the special measures decided by the government.
We remain at your entire disposal and wish you good luck for the rest of the events.
Kind regards,
Eva

Sadly we were due to fly out on Sunday and this is another kick in the nuts.

We were due to go to Yelloh Lous Seurrots next week, but never took their insurance. We told them over a month ago that we weren’t comfortable going over due the the pandemic and they issued us with a voucher to use next year. EasyJet have since cancelled our flights, we were happy with the response from Lous Seurrots.
