Losing deposit

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before. Booked a holiday for August back last year through lastminute.com. We paid £100 deposit and are prepared to now lose this as our circumstances have changed regardless of whether we’re allowed there or not. The final balance is due 18/7. If I don’t pay, will they take the rest anyway as they have my card details from when I paid the deposit? Or will they just cancel the holiday and (understandably) keep the £100?

Nobody can answer this, it depends if you agreed to a continuous payment authority on the card you used to pay the deposit. Dig out the paperwork/email and have a look.
Although really you should be contacting them to tell them you are cancelling.0 -
Hi Robbie, yes if you want to cancel then tell them you are cancelling in accordance with the terms and conditions (could be more than the £100 depending what you agreed to). Another thread has same problem, they didn't pay the balance when due and thought it would be automatically cancelled. It wasn't and the balance was taken. Now they are feeling hard done to because they don't want to go.0

Yes, check the T&C's to see what you will lose.
I cancelled our late August holiday (our balance was due 18/6) with JET2 officially through their website.
They sent confirmation through very quickly.0 -
Hi, thanks for the advice. I’ve clicked on their link to send a quote through with how much it’ll cost to cancel. So will hopefully hear back soon.0

hopefully it will just be the £100 but some travellers have been surprised by the fact that they were on some sort of low start deposit (to get them to commit) but the full deposit (in the T&Cs) is actually higher and they have been chased for the rest on cancellation.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
