This happened pre-covid - drove around couldn't find a parking space nearby at pay and display machines. nearby.I didn't mean to be harsh - although I do say it like it is in my replies to people - I was trying to tell you that you could have used a single or double yellow line. That's what they are for.
There was no need to think either, I must find:
1. a pay & display bay
or
2. a car park.
So many people think that's where they have to stop, even to collect a prescription. It;s not. Double and single yellows allow exempt activity and do not mean 'no parking' per se. I hope posters at least take this from the forum and go and look up what exempt activity on a yellow line allows, so they don't seek out car parks and get trapped by scammers again.PRIVATE 'PCN'? How is that possible one park on double / single yellow lines as it is prohibited at any times? parking there could lead to hefty fine from police officers or council officials .Coupon-mad said:This happened pre-covid - drove around couldn't find a parking space nearby at pay and display machines. nearby.I didn't mean to be harsh - although I do say it like it is in my replies to people - I was trying to tell you that you could have used a single or double yellow line. Thanks your your help.
you prtobably wont find templates for every eventuality, but there are some in the SUCCESSFUL COMPLAINTS sticky thread in the sticky thread by crabman, a complaint from the heart and not a template is best anyway

You are confused, because Double and single yellows DO NOT mean all types of stopping is prohibited. Why are you telling us that stopping there is 'prohibited' and that the Police will give you a hefty fine? What makes you think that? It's wrong. Why do people think this - where are you getting this from?vickbson said:How is that possible one park on double / single yellow lines as it is prohibited at any times? parking there could lead to hefty fine from police officers or council officials .

Where have you seen Police issuing fines on double yellows, please? It's extremely rare; almost no area in England/Wales has Police dealing with Double yellows.
I'm trying to help you know next time, that you can stop on yellow lines for certain exempt activity and was encouraging you to look it up - maybe your local authority has a parking enforcement policy they have published?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

PLeas tell us where you have seen the police issuing such fines. Traffic wardens are not the police
For example you may continuously load and unload for up to 20 min on a douyble yellow line. Look it up. Its part of the highway code.1 -
Lewisham Borough. Nonetheless thank you informing me - absolutely had no idea one is allowed to stop on double yellow line thought it is prohibitedCoupon-mad said:Where have you seen Police issuing fines on double yellows, please? I am puzzled. What has Police activity in Lewisham to do with that of Private Parking companies? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
