  • Hi All.
I'm in a bit of a pickle. Last year I booked accommodation in Pembrokeshire for the Ironman Wales Event. Due to high demand the accommodation was at a premium price way over normal etc
the event has now been cancelled and it looks like Self catering accommodation is re opening before the September booking date. At the Moment it looks like I don't have much option but to take the accommodation and holiday however there will be nothing open in the area.
Just wondering if there is any advice on how I may be able to cancel and get Money back?
    Thanks

It really would have been better had you started a new thread regarding this matter as the 2 holiday scenarios here are vastly different and advice given can be confusing to say the least.

If the accommodation is open and you choose not to go you will not get your money back, it is disinclination to travel. I don’t mean this unkindly but your accommodation will not care that nothing in the area is open they are only obligated to offer the accommodation you have booked.

Who have you booked the cottage with EyeBrows?   You may be able to ask nicely if they would consider letting you rebook for next year?   But they are under no obligation.   If not and it is a private transaction, maybe you could 'sell' your holiday to someone who would like to go?  Mum and dad maybe?    (I mention this because I had a cottage booked in Wales and the owners said they didn't mind if I changed the people who were scheduled to go so long as I told them who they were).

Other than that, we don't really know what will and what won't be open.   You should still be able to walk lots, ride bikes, take in the scenery.   I am sure some pubs and eating places will have resumed by then if all goes smoothly from now on.  Goes without saying if, heaven forbid, we experience another spike and lockdown then you would get your money back.

The probably will not be too keen on moving it as if it was overpriced because of the competition and that is not going ahead they will not be able to make as much by re-letting it. I would think by September a lot of places would be back open again.
