Opening pubs before gyms makes ZERO sense.

Outdoor exercise is still limited to 6 people.
Yet you can now go to the cinema, pub and be inside amongst many more people?
If social distancing in a pub has been deemed safe enough then why haven't socially distanced outside fitness classes been permitted.0 -
Makes no sense to me, and I'm not happy about it (plenty of swear words last night)! Let's be honest social distancing will not happen in pubs, unlike a gym.
The amount of people that didn't even wash their hands after toilet before closure says a lot.0 -
The type of lifestyle and the economic impact shouldnt be a factor in lockdown decisions.RyanHello said:On the news this morning, it said pubs are going to open before Gyms. Can someone please explain to me the sense in that? Surely the pubs should be the last to open..
Going to the gym / leisure centre promotes are more healthy lifestyle.
However wit this government what we seeing is them reacting, not been preactive
The reason pubs have been favoured is the hospitality industry is big in this country and also that drunk people are less likely to complain and notice governance problems.
Both pubs and gyms should have stayed shut in my opinion.0 -
Pubs should be the last to open. There's no way the gov is following public health. It's unsafe for kids to go back to school, but safe enough to have a pint of beer in your local... says it all really.Chrysalis said:

They are. My gym has been running them for a couple of weeks now, and the tennis courts are open.KxMx said:Outdoor exercise is still limited to 6 people.

Class numbers are limited to 5, so that plus instructor. All at 2 metre spacing and outside.
My particular bugbear is the swimming pools, very easy to get people to book slots and limit numbers.
But they don't tax that, so I guess that's why its considered less important.0 -
My bad, I should have added "larger" to my last sentence
5 is absolutely not a viable class size for my independent Zumba instructor and she can't be the only one in that position.
Zumba via Zoom has been fine but just not the same, I'm dead keen to get back to a class, which will certainly have to be outdoor for some time.
If you can be with many people in a pub 1m apart you should be able to exercise outdoors with more than 5, especially when the location allows 2m spacing.
Like the pools as you say it's not a priority for the Government due to revenue.0 -

Pubs are opening just deal with it.RyanHello said:

Theres also the breweries and food distributers who supply food to the pubs plus any other firms pubs use.0 -
Because it's also about reopening the economy. If the economy doesn't get going soon a heck of a lot more people will die from the NHS running out of money than were ever going to be killed by COVID.RyanHello said:On the news this morning, it said pubs are going to open before Gyms.
