Payed for holiday by direct debit TUI

I did my original request over the phone that was 6 weeks ago and I also did the online form last week, in case nothing had been done since my original request

 There doesn't seem to be much information regarding your rights when you make purchases by direct debit? Im wondering for future lessons

Direct debit refunds are taking longer than other methods of payment.

And the form says it takes 28 days.

If a package holiday is ATOL protected you get your money back if the company goes bust, no matter what the payment method.

However I am now a firm believer in paying companies as little as possible until things are due. Pay a deposit and then pay nothing until the balance is due, your money is better in your pocket for a few months than TUIs bank account.

 With a chargeback the company can dispute th claim and recall the money.
With a credit card you can do a chargeback or you can   do a section 75 claim where the card provider is equally liable . 
Martin Lewis has explained that TUI have a delay with bookings made in shops as they were done on an old computer and the  transfer of information to  the new one has had problems.

Direct debit, or debit card?
I have never heard of paying for a holiday by the former, only by bank transfer. as opposed to a credit or debit card. Chargeback applies if you used a debit card, no protection at all if you used a bank transfer

Tui offer holidays that you can book upfront with no deposit and you pay a monthly direct debit to them. Thomas Cook also used to offer something similar.
