Well it's a price to pay for getting on the credit ladder I guess. Remember to immediately set up a direct debit to pay off in full, every month. That's one of the most important finance lessons in life!

Is your spouse a British citizen with good credit history ?
If so, she MIGHT be able to get a credit card with you as an additional cardholder.

Good idea, though it wouldn't help the OP build his UK credit history, which is something they are looking at doing.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

no she is not a british nor a european citizen and he joined me after i moved to the uk..
I received my CC yesterday btw, i will need now to activate it.
Thank you all for your help and advices !

The conclusion for anyone else in my situation: I had opened an HSBC advance account when i moved to the UK (2yrs), i was receiving my salary in it, had a monthly saving account, and was not spending from that account (monthly budget was transferred to another bank to be spent). I was able to open the reward account from the online website with no issue.
