What CC to choose ? (no credit history, need it for travels)

Hi all,
hope you are all doing well.
I have already read many topics and pages about CC, but i thought before taking my final decision I would ask you guys for a final check.
My situation: Married, foreigner for less than 3y in London (no credit history), good income but low spender
What I need a CC for: I need it mainly to rent a car/pay for holiday expense (to have some protection), I would like to also be able to use one in my homecountry (France, and Euro currency) as having one credit card in France would cost me a lot for almost no use. I will only use this card few times per year to rent car/book hotels etc in GBP and EUR.
I have accounts in FD and HSBC, but it seems the best deals for my situation would be Halifax/Barclays.
What do you guys advise ?
Tx all

With a thin credit history and less than 3 years residency you may struggle to get any card so just try the eligibility checker on here and see what it says

You could try either HSBC (2.99% forex) or 118118 Money (0% forex)  either of which may furnish you with a card. 118118 Money doesn't have forex commission but has a higher APR if not paid in full each month.

I would respectfully suggest that if the OP's history as posted, he has absolutely no chance of getting a mainstream card such as those posted above.
The best he might get would be the 'starter' cards - these would be low limits to start with - which might not be enough to hire a car etc.

There are people with much better knowledge than me on this issue, but my view for what's worth.
I would go with the Aqua card as there is no non-sterling transaction fees
But as above posted said you might struggle with car hire with low limit
Also I would use the card for day to day stuff to start to build up your credit history
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Run the eligibility checker first and see which cards are most likely to accept you, with a limited history your chances might not be great so might be a waste of time researching cards if your eligibility is 0.

(Eligibility is not guaranteed, so if it says 100%, it doesn't actually mean 100%, but it's a good indication)

    Hi Malkytheheed,
i have an account at HSBC, actually i just did it, i thought i would not risk requesting a CC from some bank who has no info at all about me.
And it seems i'm eligible for the reward credit card, so i just ordered it.
It's not the best rate for EUR, but for once or twice a year I guess 3% sterling fee will not kill me
