Just to add my (positive) experience. I sold something similar (a large conservatory) on ebay a few years ago which is subject to the same pitfalls. However I was clear to explain the expectations in the auction:....
    • A £100 deposit by PayPal within 24 hours of the auction ending
    • Buyer to disassemble within "x" days of the end of the auction
    • ALL items listed to be removed (so not left with the dregs they didn't want).
    • The non-refundable balance to be paid by cash or bank transfer on arrival following a visual inspection, and prior to the work commencing.
    • Any damage caused to the conservatory during disassembly will not be refunded.
    • No assistance from the seller (other than tea and coffee provision) to be assumed.
Also, In the case of a kitchen, you will need to ensure that and gas appliances are professionally disconnected prior to their arrival.

I agree that you see more of this kind of thing on gumtree / facebook, but it is doable via e-Bay as long as you are aware of the potential seller protection pitfalls. Plus I got a far higher price than I would have done on the "local" platforms.

in my case the buyer was a nice chap and employed an ex window fitter and a couple of labourers plus a flatbed van to manage the disassembly so the whole thing ran like clockwork. But obviously if your buyer is a bit of a "have a go hero" with a hatchback things may be more problematic,

I do like to sell on ebay, but when it came time for the kitchen to come out I decided to relocated it into my garage, (as it seems many others do too), the damaged caused removing them wasn't important as the room was being paritally demolished / re-plastered for an extension (which was also the reason for selling the conservatory). I did donate the dishwasher, but the hob, oven and extractor were scrapped as they were way past their best, and also british racing green in colour!!!!
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

You can put what you like in the description but you cannot refuse paypal and that is what will show as preferred to buyer. So buyer pays by paypal - you refuse it and refund it, leaving you with potentially high paypal fees and possible bad feedback from buyer.
