Green Deal storage Heaters 2020 -Genuine or Costly,
Options
Seems Green Deal 2020 replacement Storage Heaters could be on offer post Shutdown.
Is this as Genuine as previous Cavity Wall Installation, which went fine -Zero cost.
What could happen with removal of Existing Heaters and re installation of replacement heaters.

The only possible way a super-duper storage heater could be any more efficient than a bog standard 20 years old one is in the quality of it's insulation. In the end if your room requires a certain amount of heat to keep it warm then it will use exactly the same amount of leccy what ever the sort of heater you buy. All electric heaters (whether storage, fan, magic dust, elephant oil or whatever) produce the same amount of heat from the same amount of electricity
IMO the only vague benefit you might get from a so called 2020 heater is that they will retain the heat a bit longer than an older heater, so more of it might still be available in the evenings. However some of the newer heaters (Dimplex Quantum for instance) are frequently undersized and require a fan to dissipate the heat and are fitted with an auxiliary element to provide the extra that you'll probably need because the heater was undersized in the first place. That extra heat will cost you more because you'll have to use full price leccy to power it.
Personally I'd just stay with what you've got because you don't get nowt for 'owt and I guess you wont easily recover the cost of replacing them - especially if you have to pay for an additional electricity feed to each heater for the auxiliary element/timer/fan etcNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers3 -

Thousands of posts here over the years, most of which had to make a contribution so be prepared .

Thanks all reply's.
Firstly, The Energy efficiency from Storage Heaters is an excellent reminder , I had an idea there wouldn't be an amazing difference in efficiency.
Secondarily, The possible contributions to total cost, I had until this thread not known off.
Is there any way of getting an idea of Cost -is it Heater cost or Removal/Installation. Costs.
If I get to apply, it will via Property Management.

.Efficiency.
What is efficiency?
In whose opinion?
Who benefits from that efficiency?
How is that efficiency achieved?
You see I'm NSH of 50+ years. I count only.cost and comfort in this home. I've used 8500kWh for a decade(ish) @ 75% cheap rate and 25% day rate, none of which is 'on demand' heating heating with 120 litres of 65°C Legionella free hot water each and every morning. Dumb NSH is almost unlimited, I did have a bi-plate stat fail once. I simply de-wired the stat and have never used the 'damper' ever.
To my knowledge only Quantum is licenced to be 'green deal' eligible. This system will take a lot of expensive kWh at day rate over its life providing heat. The payback rate in decades and has a dismal 2 year's warranty on technical essential electrical equipment. IMO.
Very best of luck.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Thanks mser's
@Richie-from-the-Boro what is NSH.
efficiency comment from myself was continuation from @matelodave's previous helpful info.
What I know is my existing storage heaters are quite a number of years, which smell at higher temps.
They could last longer-though don't think they have lifetime use, unless this is wrong.
Quick search as an example.
Should I replace old storage heaters? Yes – but look at other heating options first. Although new storage heaters are not cheap, they are more efficient than they used to be in a number of ways, so running costs will be cheaper.

Excuse ,me for mistaking the Smell for Asbestos Ridden Bricks!
You should really look at what you are being offered.
The Green Deal, does not entitle you to free equipment, in fact the GD is a long term finance deal which theoretically loans you the money to buy the equipment which should hopefully save you money in the long term. The intention being that your payments (to the energy company) are offset by the savings that they calculate that you should make over the 10-20 year period.
Many people have become dreadfully unstuck, in not actually realising the projected savings but ending up with a long term finance agreement that sill has to be paid off.
Make sure you totally understand the deal and dont be pressured into signing stuff because as always if it looks too god to be true it usually is
