Any thoughts on these motors?
I’m a current Jag driver and happy with them. Looking to upgrade to a small SUV, from a premium marque.
The RR is more expensive, is it worth it?

I think they're essentially the same.  Sit in them, test drive them and see which you prefer.  Personally I much prefer the Evoque.  The E-Pace (along with all Jaguars) feel too "old man" for me.

I am, but note the quotation marks around "old man".  Just because I am an old man doesn't mean I like to drive at 40mph and wear a pair of leather driving gloves.

I suggest the OP tests the cars and decides for themself, as I'm pretty sure the chassis etc. is the same in each vehicle, it's purely the interiors that are different.

I have no idea why everyone on this forum is suddenly obsessed with my age.

I wouldn't be given an Evoque.  There's a reason they are bottom of most reliability surveys.

I know three owners, all of them regret decision to buy.  One rejected due to faults from new, one sold recently after developing an expensive fault at less than 4 years old, no contribution from LR, the other paid a hefty bill at 4 years due to a leaking adblue pipe connector which wasn't picked up at service.  He is in formal dispute to recover the cost.

Well, to counter that, I've had three Evoques and never had a single problem.  My only criticism would be the gear box in my first one would really hesitate changing and would make junctions and roundabouts a bit hairy, but the two since have been flawless and great cars.

Although they were all bought new, so can't comment on their long-term reliability.

I actually thought your post in that other thread was sarcasm for effect - to prove a point, hence my reply above. :D

Not any more. They used to be built on the same platform, but even then I thought the differences were quite pronounced.
The New Evoque is a on new platform (PTA) designed to accommodate hybrid technology, has a longer wheelbase so rear room is better and adopts Land Rover's new "design language" that was launched with the Velar in 2017.

Thanks - the comments more of less echo who I've learnt from friends and colleagues.
Some say that the Evoque like all LRs is unreliable. However, one friend who used to have one raves about it.
I know jags are a bit old man but I do like them. My current XE had a fault on the AC a few months outside of guarantee that was 80% covered by Jag, so I'm fairly pleased by their service overall.
  • Which? ratings - Evoque 42% (poor reliability, expensive to run), E-Pace 57% (poor visibility, sub-standard cabin materials) compared to, for example, Q5 72% (thirsty, expensive options). Make of that what you want.
