Getting fed up of inability to use MSE forum

Having logged in without a problem, I'm yet again encountering difficulties in actually using the new-style forum (no such difficulties occurred in the old-style days). Right now, various threads on this board are all accompanied by icons for Quote and Thanks and Report. However, posts appearing at this time in threads on the Discussion Time sub board don't have any such facility that I can actually see and click on: there's no way of replying to a post, or of quoting it, still less of ever being able to say 'thanks'.

I've noticed this phenomenon more and more since the  'forum makeover'. Iinitially it seemed to be the case that the 'Thanks' option had vanished from just about every board and subboard I happened to browse. Now, however, that the Quote option has vanished as well, the forum is impossible to use as intended.

Does anyone have any idea why these difficulties have cropped up and are continuing to do so?

If it's a tecchie problem at my end, all I can say is I'm running the latest version of Firefox, and have disabled my adblock add-ons for the duration of my MSE visits. Disabling has, however, made no difference at all: Quote and Thanks options continue to be absent from almost every thread / every board I browse to.

Inter-paragraph spacing is also a major irritant, :/ yet before the forum makeover that problem (using Firefox) didn't exist, either.

The Money Savers' Arms area of the Forum has been closed (this includes Discussion Time).

The areas remain in-place but read only.   Therefore no response buttons.   There is a headline banner on the subject.

Discussion Time and the Money Savers arms are now closed so you won't be able to reply.....no one can.
There's a notice at the top in pink.

  • Hi,
only the 'Report' icon showing for me also.
I've also noticed recently that the font size in replies is smaller than the font size in the opening post.

There's a Site Feedback board for topics such as this. :)

Thanks to Cornucopia and Taff for that info. I usually go to Forum/Home and then straight to 'Discussion Time' as a sub board of Money Saver's Arms, so although there's a pink warning advisory at the start of Discussion Time, its heading relates to MSA and so I've never read it, having always (and mistakenly) taken the view that the Arms and Discussion Time were separate entities. Mea culpa then: apologies to all for any inconvenience caused -- and thanks to those who offered constructive help!

They might as well remove the report button it hasn't worked in a week.

If I see a post I want to report and it doesn't work, then I disconnect.

The new forum simply does not work well on my browser. It is terrible to use IMO. Very little works except the most basic text input. None of the buttons in the edit window work so only basic text can be posted. Before this utter mess, the forum worked very well. The worst thing is that no new lines are possible because the text gets added to one continuos line! Links get converted to clickable links but all on one stupid line! It is unusable and a real trouble to use IMO.

I stopped for a while now only when my other places are fully read.

The editor is useless for formatting posts.

    Endless scroll to do anything.

Makes you wonder why this platform was chosen.
