Plate stuck to shelf!!

I think there's a growing number of people who are stuck to this thread like your plate is stuck to the shelf, all awaiting the news that it's been safely released unharmed and unhurt!!!

If it makes you feel a little better,  I had to come on here once to ask how to remove a mug I'd managed to superglue to the kitchen worktop.
One of the more creative suggestions to my "what do I do" plea was to stick a plant in it.

NEWSFLASH
The hostage plate has been released. It is safe and well and is sitting in the sink to think about what it has done.

And the winner was..............................

I actually used a table knife as I wasn't feeling brave enough for a proper blade as I'm VERY clumsy. Popped right off!

Eventually. Took a couple of weeks of fannying around it if I remember correctly.
