Plate stuck to shelf!!

Nothing has worked as yet so I'm trying some soapy cloths around it, and will try the pan idea - although a bit nervous in case I knock it on myself! Hairdryer did nothing at all. Hoping the warm weather may work in my favour as everything else has melted in here this week haha.0 -

Fill the saucepan with very hot water and place it on the plate and leave it there for a while to allow the heat to transfer. This may soften up the cough mixture and instead of just trying to lift the plate, rotate it very slightly from side to side.0

If is the same type of plate, so gets good contact it might work,
Got any baking beads ? - heat those up, leave them on the plate - at least they won;t spill0 -

This is an entertaining read
. I hope you get it sorted but it's funny hearing all the suggestions.
I'll offer a new theory. If you're sure you cleaned the shelf after the spill, is it possible that the plate is actually stuck to the shelf under vacuum? Rather than being "stuck" in the sticky sense, it was placed on a damp shelf and formed a seal?
If the underside of the cupboard isn't visible, you could try gently drilling (with a hand drill and small bit) upwards through the underside of the cupboard under the centre of the plate. If it is suckered on, the resulting hole will clear the vacuum.1 -

I THINK I cleaned it well but can't be certain. Vacuum is an option as I don't always perfectly dry stuff... Unfortunately I rent so can't drill into it - it's a "top cupboard" so the underside is visible from certain angles so I wouldn't get away with it.0 -
I would keep trying water or white vinegar and try to get under the plate.
Something like dental floss would help to get under it or a glass scraper0 -
I'd get a b;laded knife (Stanley) and try and ease the plate off.OrSpray bottle of water and keep sprayingBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
