Rather annoying. I wouldn't cause any damage on purpose, but I also wouldn't show much care getting my bins past / leaving the house carrying things elsewhere.

The amount of people suggesting criminal damage on here just sums up what this country is turning into. I’m surprised at the number with a complete disregard for the law. It’s also a completely stupid suggestion given they know where you live and generally peoples houses are far more valuable than peoples cars.

Ultimately if he’s parking within the law then he’s really not doing anything wrong. Saying that I’d be surprised if he’s allowed to park on the pavement like that, in a lot of places you aren’t allowed on the pavement at all. It might be worth speaking to the council and ask them if such parking breaks any such rules. If they can ticket the car they’ll jump at the chance.

If he really is doing nothing wrong then you need to speak to the council about getting lines put in or a parking scheme setup, assuming it isn’t a resident parking. The more residents on board the easier this’ll be but given how anti car most councils are these days you shouldn’t struggle.

Unless it is in London, then pavement parking cannot be enforced by the Council and it would be a responsibility of the Police currently. With regards putting parking restrictions in, this would then cause parking issues for the residents of the street, as the LA wouldn't put a small section of lines in to remove this parking issue.

Spoken to te council, no joy. Even asked if I could pay for a white T-bone, however as there is no dropped kerb, so it can't be done.
As I said in my original post, the only option is the police, which i'm not prepared to do, so just came on here for a vent :)

White H-Bar markings are advisory, so if parked over, would be unenforceable anyway.
  • There are always more options! Is there a reason why you don't want to report to your local police force, especially as this can be done online (no phone call, no visit)? Also have you tried leaving a (polite) note on the windscreen of the car thats always obstructing the footway?

I wonder if the cyber saints would feel the same way if it was them that was inconvenienced like this.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.

What would happen if a wheelchair user wanted past or a person on a mobility scooter ? whilst not condoning vandalism if a car got scratched by a wheelchair trying to pass could they really complain?
  • That car looks really close to your property, but are you saying people park so close that you sometimes have to get into your property by climbing over the wall - because you can't access the gate?  And you've watched somebody park and then clamber over your wall to get out, and then clamber back over later that day to get back to their car?  Why don't you want to involve the police - I would?  Are the neighbours willing to put up with it too?

And are you saying the cars are parked so close nose to tail that the bin-men can't get to the bins?  (I could understand if parking was so bad that the bin lorry couldn't get down the street, but here the bin-men would see it as a challenge to be taken on).
