Best mp3 player for £100

Hi Everyone

I am looking for an mp3 player for my daughter and want to spend in the region of £100. Would like a decent brand, good capacity, DRM9 download ability and video / photo storage. Been around the web and there is an abundance of choice and offers. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Thanks for reading and thanks for any help.

What about the Nintendo DS lite, combined with an R4 DS Cartridge it will play MP3s, movies, store photos and uses MicroSD cards of up to 4gb, it plays all the DS games too.

iPod Nano 4Gb new version £809.97delivered from Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Apple-iPod-nano-silver/dp/B000UVQA6C/

    Or the 8Gb version £117.49: http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Apple-iPod-nano-silver/dp/B000UUSAFM/

We have several in our family (and have had other brands before Apple) - highly recommended.

This seems very interesting. Being a technophobe, would this be easy to set up? Is it a card that goes into the slot where the games would normally slot into it? Is it an easy interface to use? My daughter, the user, is 10 years old.

    Thanks

Yes the R4 cartridge is identical to a normal game cartridge and slots into the same place as a game. The cartridge itself has a slot which allows for a Micro SD card up to 4GB, the R4 'kit' contains everything to allow the DS to become a movie/mp3/game player and the MicroSD will store photos in the same way any SD card would. It has been designed to be very simple and comes with complete instructions, there are also very many guides about how to use it on the net, see below.

In addition to the above features the R4 cartridge also allows the DS to play games which have been obtained from the net and as a result has caused Nintendo some concern. Of course, using games copied from the internet may cause Stormtroopers to raid you house at 5am, or then again not.

Whilst the DS lite is larger than an Ipod, when used with an R4 cartridge its functionality is massively increased and it makes other MP3 players/Ipods look very last year.

If it's for a Christmas present, Id go for an iPod they are marvellous, no one would be disappointed. Especially with the John Lewis offer above.

sorry i wouldnt go for an ipod

i have just bought a sandisc mp3 player in dubai for around 70 uk pounds, it is an 8gb and you can fit a sandisck card in to make it up to 16gb (the biggest card you can get is 8gb)

if you look on the website it is advertised as $149, as sandisc is one of main brands for memory cards i presume getting one in uk should be pretty easy
the sound is top qaulity and ease of use is exellent

also all the add ons for ipod like fm transmitter, speakers, docking station, car conector are all available

Exactly, and they are great devices too, the design and interface are works of art. Without doubt the best MP3 players I've owned, and I've owned a few in my time!
  • If I had 100 quid to buy an mp3 player with, I'd be considering either a 4gb Ipod Nano or the 4/8 gb Creative Zen

The Zen looks way cooler for the money and is expandable with memory cards. It also has a bigger screen and plays more video formats.

Note: I have an Ipod Classic and have formerly owned a Creative Zen Xtra

I love my classic, but i've seen a guy with the small Zen on my train and it looks amazing for video
