Fragrances

Does anybody else have a love of fragrances? I have about 20 in my collection so far. Today I'm trying Scandal by Roja for the first time. It's very, very good. I'm normally an Amouage fanboy and like most Creed.

Dior are also another house that really impress. I don't think they make a bad one at all.

What favourites does everyone else have?

Ha Ha ha!!!!   Have not counted in a while but well over 100 bottles.  Vintage, niche I wear men's whatever I like I buy.   Some years back someone priced my collection(hoard) at worth about £20,000+ but that was at rrp and I always wait for sales or go eBay TKMaxx can be a gold mine about 3 years ago they were selling L'Artisan Parfumeur at £20+ a bottle. The brand had been bought over and the new owners changed the bottle so old stock straight to TKMaxx.  No, I do not buy every new perfume that comes out in fact most designer department stores perfumes I ignore never sniffed an Armani in my life.  Calvin Klein I really dislike and refuse to even sniff.
Do not like the modern Dior's Joy for me is yuck but that is my opinion others love it.  They have reformulated so much LVMH who own them make cheaper seller higher.  Many of the classic Guerlain's have been ruined by them, though Mitsouko seems to have managed to stay true.  Mitsouko was 100 years old in 2019!

The main man left Guerlain to set up his own company. That being Roja. Dior are bit bit of a strange beast at times. Their EDT is stronger than their EDP. Yes they aren't what they were but still good. For watered down look at Creed. I can't justify buying most of their products. Very expensive and very poor performance on the whole.

I met Roja a number of times he was never the nose of Guerlain.   He actually did makeup demo and then talked the history of Guerlain at events.   Jean-Paul Guerlain was the last member of the Guerlain family who was their nose, he finally sold his shares to LVMH in the early 00s and Roja decided to leave then.  Quite a few people on the perfume forums do not even consider him a nose as he gets others to do the work.
Oh, Creed :D  I actually own some Creeds bought when they were 30mls for £45!    They do love their fairy stories about when their perfumes were created, you will never ever find a bottle of Creed older than the 1980s.  They were tailors back in the early 1900s Helen Rubinstein always came to London to get her riding outfits made by them.  The real drop the mic was when Oliver Creed in a radio interview talked about creating Green Irish Tweed and how it wasn't until 1986 it was ready.   Yet, they insist it was made for Cary Grant but unless they dug him up and sprayed him with GIT he was dead a before it was created and released.    Creed has been sold cannot remember at the moment who bought them.   So expect loads of flankers to come Adventus Light etc.

Dior what they did with Miss Dior flanker after flanker changing the name it has got to the point you hardly know which one you are buying.   I have Dior Homme from the first release and it is stronger than the version they sale now as the parfum.   The first has a silver tube inside the bottle, they reformulated and it became a black tube they toned down the iris note as orris is a very expensive ingredient.

I like Green Irish Teeed but the performance isn't as good as it should be. Aventus is great but the price is ridiculous and it is copied by so many others now it's just not woth it.

I have several Amouage creations and they never seem to disappoint. I've got Beach Hut, Reflection, Epic and Interlude. All different and all really good.

I love perfume.  I am running a bit low due to lockdown and not ordering anything.  I like strong spicy oriental fragrances, I don't like all the new young fruity scents, they make me feel sick.

All time favourite is Opium, yes its strong at first but after a couple of hours, it is just gorgeous, husband absolutely LOVES it on me :)

Next favourite is Shalimar, think I might get some more of that next time

I also like Modern Muse, Bronze Goddess, Knowing, Youth Dew.

My favourite Amouage is Ubar which does not seem to be mentioned much.  I got mine at a great price from Les Senteurs some years back they only got one bottle in and never got the tester so I bought it.

I have analysed over 300 in the last 12 months, but only have 8 in my collection :)
Those Spring and Summer frags will never perform like the cooler weather ones - just apply more often if thats the case.

I have far too much perfume :D My friend does the FM fragrances so if there’s one I want to try I will often buy one of those before splashing out on the real thing- or if I’m waiting for a gift for birthday/Christmas I’ll buy one of those until I get the real thing.
I’ve currently got: Carolina Herrera Good Girl, Jimmy Choo Fever, Vera Wang Princess, Creed Green Irish Tweed and Aventus for Her, Tiffany and Love by Tiffany (my wedding perfume) Thierry Mugler Angel, Nina Ricci Nina, Abercrombie and Fitch First Instinct, Dior Poison Girl and two Viva La Juicy’s whose exact names escape me (they’re all real) I have Thierry Mugler Aura, Dior Joy, Chanel No5, Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir and Lime Basil and Mandarin, and Tom Ford Lost Cherry (I adore this but can’t stretch to the real thing!) and Tobacco Vanille in the FM perfumes.
