New Facebook 'upgrade' :(

It seems that facebook have jumped on the mse bandwagon and done an 'upgrade'
We now have the lower half of the middle third of the screen with the 'newsfeed' and the rest just s h y t e (can I say that on here?)
I did have FB Purity add-on (Firefox W10) but don't think that's functioning now (?) do we think FBP will 'catch up' to make it more functional?

Probably. You can still switch back to "classic" Facebook through the account button top right at this time, but be prepared for that to vanish at any time.

For me (using Chrome) the option to select the classic version is under the dropdown arrow to the right of the bell icon. Have you checked there?1

Yeah, seems to be a big thing on the Facebook Community pages about it, people peeing and moaning about it, but all that'll happen is they'll have their twenty seconds of moaning and threatening to move away, receive a chunk of likes on their emotionally charged rant, and as soon as the option to revert is officially removed, they'll forget about the old version and embrace the new one. This happens every time Facebook redesigns. The Timeline was the most high profile, with everybody complaining this is the death of Facebook, everybody's off to Twitter and what not. Didn't happen..There was a post on the FB Purity page about installing a User Agent Switcher and setting it to an Apple browser that may allow you to revert, but I haven't tried this.TL;DR - since this is going to be the default you might as well get used to it if you can't switch. Or move on.4

Like we ‘embrace’ this redesign here?
Like this setup, its a load of tosh. Sadly it needs to be endured for the purpose because the alternatives are not as good, even if they look better.1 -

In the middle third we have peoples 'stories' (?) and then a box which ironically says "what's on your mind J_B"!!! That's it, the screen is full of c r 4 p and I can't even see any of the newsfeed items without scrolling down. 😤1

I switched back, it had all sorts of weird things that appeared to be change for the sake of it - like having the "x" to close an image in a different place. It was also much slower on my browser, too. When I switched back it asked my why, so I put in a bit of detail. Maybe the issues are better now. I expect it will make me change at some point.1
