You need to prepare yourself for one of those two things to happen.

The NEWBIES thread covers this, plus any thread you care to read does too!  No-one here risks anything.

You are not risking your credit score by taking the advice on this forum - but you do need to read the advice on the forum before asking questions, please, then you will know a bit more about what to do.

That's why we have sticky threads pinned at the top.  Please, just read the NEWBIES thread and come back when you get a CEL court claim - and win like everyone else does.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

These questions are answered in the newbies thread and/or by searching the internet.  Please do the research.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

    http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2019/8/contents/of these Private Parking Companies.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Your credit score cannot be affected unless you get taken to court, lose, and then dont pay  within the usual time limit of 30 days. Stop. Panicking.

This forum's good.  You won't find many random opinions, but rather information and guidance that has been tried, tested and updated over the years.  So the thing to do is to familiarise yourself with that information and guidance starting by ploughing through the Newbies' thread.  It's worth doing.

Doing a search for CEL threads to read will be useful too.
